Lloyd Gayhardt
Peer Recovery Coach
I have been battling addiction and being in and out of prison and homelessness for 18+ years and I was in such a depression for a long time over my father's and my mother's death that I just fell in to a deeper addiction and I felt like I had no one and nothing left. My children didn't even want anything to do with me. I would call them just to check in with them just to let them know I was alive. After two weeks of my kids not talking to me they thought I was dead and were looking for my body in morgues and I text my son after two weeks and he said I needed to call my daughter. When I called her she said "why are you doing this your f#$^ing hurting me. I explained that I never realized how much I was hurting her so find me a program kiddo and I'll go. So I went to two different programs to help me rebuild my life and to help me get sober and stay sober. After 18 months of sobriety I have never thought how much better my life could be without meth. God has blessed me and helped me to rebuild the relationship with my children and my sisters and gained a closer relationship with God. I'm very thankful for how much of better life God has blessed me with.
